Mandelieu-la-Napoule was settled by the Romans around 2,000 years ago. The harbor front is still dominated today by a magnificent fortress, which has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries. It was constructed by the Villeneuve family in the 14th century, before becoming a glass factory in the 19th century.

Acquired in 1918 by the American artist Henry Clews Jr. and his wife, the dilapidated property was renovated: its remarkable terraces then offered spectacular views of the Mediterranean, while fountains and topiary enhanced the gardens.

During World War II, the German army requisitioned the château. Marie Clews, then a widow, remained there as a housekeeper. Today, the Château de Mandelieu-la-Napoule is listed as a historic monument.

Locals and tourists who have stayed there, even for just a day, appreciate the scents of jasmine and lavender typical of the region. Renowned for its light, fragrances, and colors, Mandelieu-la-Napoule has a true love affair with the mimosa, which grows abundantly on the surrounding hills and in the town’s gardens.

Every year, in January and February, this sun-colored tree brightens the dull season. A famous and popular festival in its honor has become a February tradition, bringing together visitors and locals alike.

Choosing Mandelieu-la-Napoule means opting for the charm of a quiet small town where leisure and activities are plentiful. Restaurants and cafés, as well as museums and galleries, along with water sports and hiking trails—not to mention two golf courses—offer many opportunities to enjoy yourself and the preserved natural surroundings.

Mandelieu-la-Napoule is a beautiful seaside town, ideally located for investing in luxury real estate.
